MICHIGAN REPEALS TAX ON MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

November 4, 2021

Menstrual equity lobbyists in the state of Michigan successfully achieved the repeal of the tampon tax in late 2021. Prior to this menstrual products were not exempt from the sales tax regardless of being a medical necessity. Michigan is now the 24th state to make period products tax exempt.

NOVI NOW PROVIDING FREE TAMPONS AND PADS IN CITY-OWNED RESTROOMS

Unlike other toiletries such as soap and toilet paper, menstrual products are rarely easily accessible in public restrooms. This poses a concern for menstruators as many start their period unexpectedly without having the proper products they need.
Novi is joining the growing trend of municipalities treating menstrual products as the necessities that they are.

FEARLESS FLOW FOUNDATION ADDS FREE PERIOD PRODUCTS TO BATHROOMS

Inspired by Ann Arbor and other cities, we decided to implement complementary menstrual products in our high school. The products are located in buckets at five locations around our school.
